A Tuscan Heritage / 7
Giuliano Bugialli's story

In 1996 Giuliano realized the dream of opening a brand new kitchen, built into a centuries old farm house, located in the Chianti Classico wine and olive oil country, just outside the city of Florence. Participants in the school can now cook with Giuliano in both the city and the country. The new villa kitchen was featured in the April 1996 issue of House Beautiful magazine.
In July the following year, the new and exciting International Wine and Cuisine Festival at Stowe, Vermont, was launched. Bugialli was selected to organize the Food program, with celebrated demonstrators, chefs and outstanding restaurants. The festival was a great success.

In 1997 Giuliano Bugialli was awarded the City of Philadelphia's Toque Award of the Book and the Cook, for Lifetime Achievement, joining a select group of honorees such as Julia Child and Pierre Franey.
Also in 1997 Giuliano shot on location Bugialli's Italy, a 26-episode show for PBS television. The program started to be aired in the fall of 1998. Each episode alternates cooking lessons in the spectacular kitchen of Giuliano's Tuscan villa, with footage from all over Italy, relating to the regional recipes being presented.
Finally, in April, 2000, the revised and enlarged edition of Bugialli on Pasta with 30 additional recipes and 100 new color photos appears under the distinguished imprint of Steward Tabori and Chang and is a main selection of the Book of the Month Club.

A printed companion to the TV series, the new cookbook Bugialli's Italy, is now available both in bookstores and through the PBS stations showing the program.
